Why Weekly Home Watch Visits Matter in Southwest Florida

Published on September 19, 2026 at 4:04 PM

Leaving your Southwest Florida home unattended for an extended period can create more risk than many seasonal residents realize. Extreme heat, high humidity, heavy rain, tropical storms, and seasonal pests can cause problems to develop quickly, even when a home appeared to be in perfect condition when the owner left.

A small plumbing leak beneath a sink or around a toilet can damage cabinets, flooring, and walls within days. An air-conditioning failure can cause indoor temperatures and humidity levels to rise rapidly, creating conditions that encourage mold, mildew, and musty odors. Tripped breakers, malfunctioning appliances, roof leaks, pest activity, and damaged windows or screens can also go unnoticed when nobody is regularly checking the property.

Why Once a Month Is Not Enough

A monthly visit can leave a home unattended for four weeks or longer. If a water leak or air-conditioning problem begins shortly after an inspection, it may continue for most of the month before anyone discovers it. By that point, a relatively small issue could require extensive and costly repairs.

That is why Paradise Found Home Watch, Inc. recommends weekly visits and does not offer once-a-month service. Biweekly visits may be available, but only after we review the home, its location, and its individual needs. Our goal is to provide an appropriate level of oversight—not simply schedule the fewest possible visits.

What We Check

During each visit, we complete a visual walkthrough of the home’s interior and exterior. We check doors and windows, monitor indoor temperature and humidity, verify that the air-conditioning system is operating, and look beneath sinks, around toilets, and across ceilings for signs of water intrusion. We also visually review lanais, pool areas, screens, landscaping, and the property’s perimeter for anything unusual.

After every visit, homeowners receive a detailed electronic report with photographs, timestamps, and notes about the property’s condition. If we discover an urgent concern, we contact the homeowner promptly so the issue can be addressed.

Weekly home-watch visits provide more than a quick look at your property. They provide consistent oversight, documented updates, and peace of mind knowing someone local is carefully watching your Southwest Florida home while you are away.
